Homeward Bread started in my home kitchen with a sourdough starter named Hope, a love for making good food for the people I care about, and a pretty simple goal: helping pay for my daughter’s dance expenses. What started as baking a few loaves for friends has grown, little by little, into something I never really planned — a tiny home bakery that I’ve fallen in love with. I bake small batches of naturally leavened sourdough right here in Collinsville, Oklahoma. You’ll usually find our Classic Sourdough along with rotating specialty loaves like Jalapeño Cheddar, Rosemary Garlic, Espresso Chocolate, Pumpkin, and whatever else I’m experimenting with in the kitchen. I also make sourdough discard scones, with flavors that change from time to time. Homeward Bread is still very much a family, home-kitchen kind of operation. There have been lots of experiments, some very late baking nights, sold-out days, recipes that became keepers, and definitely a few “oopsie” loaves along the way. Most of all, I love that something as simple as bread has become another way to connect with people in our community. You can preorder for our regular bake days, or watch for the Bread Shelf to open at our home in Collinsville. When the shelf is open, you’re welcome to stop by, grab something fresh, and take a little bit of Homeward home with you.
